Hi everyone! It is Rachel back with another video here on live study hacks. To start off this video, let me set the scene. Okay, you come back from a long day at school, and you realize that you did not start on any of your homework! You have English Paper that is due tomorrow that is 50% of your grade. So you’re like get started on the English Paper, so you look at a blank document, and you suddenly like nope, let me wait, I do not want to get you started. You scroll through Tik tok and Instagram, and then you realize that it is 12:00am, you rush to complete your work before class. You end up not submitting your best work, you get your grade back and you are super upset. Well, look in this video we are going to try to help limit procrastination instances, and motivate you to get started on your upcoming school work.
Remind yourself why? And figure out Why are you lazy?
I call this the champion mindset. When you study, you need to remember why you are doing this! This is the starting point, because the strong why is a key essence to everything. Your why does not have to be compelling; it could be getting to your dream college or becoming an honor roll student, or the happiness of getting straight A’s on your report card. So get motivated by your why. Then you must recognize that there are 2 types of minds: the rational and the emotional mind, and these minds compete for control. The Rational mind has your good intentions, it wants you to have success, and wants you to achieve. On the other hand, there is an emotional mind which wants you to have fun. You get to decide which mind wins , and every behavior has action with these two minds. Next figure out why you are lazy or unmotivated, pay attention to your body or spirit whatever you call it, to truly get motivated again. There is no such thing as being lazy or a procrastinator, no one is a 100% perfect, but it is your change from procrastination, so figure out what is causing it? So you can make changes and ask why you are doing it, and fix it. Afterwards, do something that you are passionate about, and spend some time thinking about it. So remind yourself of your why, to make the right decisions, and pay attention to the rational mind/body/ to reflect, and fix to find what you are truly passionate about and then take action in this case to finish what you have to get done on your plate.
Change your stressful mindset to a more emotional state
You must change your emotional state. And what I mean by changing your emotional state is noticing your breathing when you are in your flow state, when you are focused. Sharing your motivation levels with someone, and getting motivated. You can spend some time playing an instrument, having warm showers, or going outside for a walk. Going outside for a walk helps deal with brain frog, and really clears your mind. Plus you get Vitamin D with clear symptoms of fatigue, and best of all you need no equipment. The whole purpose is to have a relaxed state, and get those alpha waves rippling, to get things done. This is why you get your best ideas from showers, or other quiet places. Sometimes when you are in a non stressful environment, the peacefulness creates a destroyance in stress.
Think Negatively and then commit to a task
Most people want you to think positively, and too much thinking negatively is a bad thing. But it is important to do so, at some points. You need to think about what is going around, if you are doing nothing, you have less time to do things then you originally had. And I would dislike to mention this, but that includes watching this video on youtube. So instead a vision board, create what can go wrong to motivate you to get a sense, and start. Or burn snakes, and start doing a workout, you must plan and plan on all the wrong things that could happen and then take action. This causes you to have no more fear but just motivation. So once you take action you have to commit to a single task. You should decide to go in one direction, if you have things in all different directions, you are clearly not very succinct in your thoughts.Write down on a single task, and commit!
Low effort
Lastly, you must take the low effort approach, it is where you at least have something done to build off of. The act of creating something in the brain that you can work off, is something that is imperfect. However starting from a place of low effort, you can come to a deep stage, where you get into that flow state. So it all starts with the low effort.
So next we are going into the bonus part of this video, so for before you start studying to increase your motivation you must have a clear workspace. I mentioned this in another one of my videos, so I did not want to include it as one of my pointers. But by clearing your desk, you are making a statement that is commitment to one task. You have everything in place, and everything is decided on. Also secondly, look at your environment, because it is the invisible hand that shape you. Your intentions often get tramped by the environment around you, behavior is the result of people. So make sure, like I said before, to make a design to prevent your laziness, clearing your desk would be one we talked about. Others would be creating a virtual space around, to make a good decision by default for example if you are taking an exam with 30 people behind, even though you do not feel motivated, you get motivated to do well. So set up these certain incidents. My last final tio is to make non negotiable agreements, tell your friends that if I do not finish this assignment by next week, I will give 20 dollars, this will help you make the right decisions to finish these assignments. For example, if you had a fruit salad or a cheesecake for dessert. Most people would choose the cheesecake, and I probably would too. Or watching tv, or going out for a run. These negotiable agreements help you make decisions. Well thank you for reaching the end of the video. And I hope you found it helpful. If you like these types of videos, please give it a like, and please subscribe to stay updated with my channel.
